She Believed She Could.. So She Did

I have been loving all of the fun things being done with mists these days! They really are so versatile. I wanted to create my own ombre look with my mists. To do this, I left some drops of yellow mist and some drops of water onto a plate. I used a paint brush to paint across the page. To make the color fade, I added more water so that the yellow color wasn't as concentrated. As you can see, I did two ombre effects and then added a line of turquoise in the middle as well. I loved how it turned out and it dries SO quickly!

The photo is from my first 5k race that I did last summer. I thought the title was very fitting. I used that very large ombre washi tape in the corners that came with the Front Row Studio Calico kit. My favorite part about creating this layout was going through my stash of paper scraps and finding all the right colors. I like it because its almost rewarding to go back and use those scraps instead of starting with new sheets of paper!

Here are some close ups. You can see all the dimension I've added with the enamel dots, ombre thickers, and arrows. I also added in some yellow and gray threads that is becoming popular right now.

Last but not least, I want to promote a new challenge blog! They will start with their first challenge on March 1st and they are offering up a great prize for new followers! You should definitely check it out and play with their challenges when they start! You can find it here... Scrap You Story

Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm

This morning I am going to share two layouts using the new Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm collection. I was impatient and couldn't wait for 2peas to get it in the store, so when I went to Archiver's on Valentine's Day, I picked up pieces of the collection. Of course, what I wanted most out of the collection, the roller phrase stamp, they didn't have. Oh well!

This first LO is of my niece and I at my wedding. I used the 12x12 papers for the borders on the side and the 6x6 papers to layer underneath my photo. Everything is from the collection except for the heart washi tape (Glitz) and the enamel dots.

Some Close ups

Here is a close up of the next layout

This layout was super fun to make! I put FIVE photos on one page! That is so unlike me right now, but I wanted to get all these photos on one page. They are of my flower girl during the ceremony. She stood there so nicely and entertained the crowd with her silly faces! I am glad that my cousin caught it on camera!

I used lots of pieces from the Lucky Charm collection, as well as some Snap! pieces, Glitz, and My Mind's Eye. I love drawing with my mists too, which is what I did in the upper left hand corner to make the hearts! Thanks for looking and have a wonderful day!

Cozumel Day Book!

I bought two Amy Tan day books this past summer and never got around to using them for anything. I decided one of them would be perfect to use for our honeymoon to Cozumel! It was actually a lot of fun to make this. It took me one evening of working on it for a couple hours and then a couple more hours after another day!

I still had bits and pieces left of the very first Amy Tan collection that I was able to use in this. The photos of the book aren't that great. Turns out it is really hard to photograph this kind of book! It is all chunky and none of the pages sit flat... but I think that is what is so fun about these kinds of books!

The Cover!

If you look to the left, you can see that it came with a little insert of heart stickers!

There were just so many fun pages to it!

I didn't know what to do with the two vellum pages in the book, so I just left them.

I snuck in some hidden journaling.

I loved the little insert that had the boy and girl on them so I put letter stickers for "Ryan" and "Andrea" on them!

I didn't put anything in that little envelope. If I would have, it would have been impossible to get it in there!

So I just put a pic on the back of it instead.

I liked the idea of having things go off the pages, so I did that quite a bit.

Of course I had to tell the story of how sick I got on our honeymoon.

Thanks for looking! I hope it inspired you to use up those Day Books or any sort of mini book!

This Mom is a 10!

Sunday night...! It was a CRAZY day at work today! For those of you who don't know.. I am a nurse.. meaning, I never know what is going to come at me each day!

I was able to finish two layouts yesterday evening so I am going to share one right now! Most of the elements from this layout were a part of the February Front Row kit from Studio Calico. Sadly, it is my last month subscribing to them. I decided to discontinue my subscription with them... for multiple reasons. Sometimes I don't feel like their kits go the distance. I never seem to like *everything* that is in them, just bits and pieces. I think I made the right decision.

Isn't that super wide ombre washi tape that I have used on the background super cool? It is a HUGE roll! I don't know what I will ever do with it all! It is cool though. This mom focuses on my sister and how she is such a great mom. She has been through SO much since her daughter was born 6 months ago, including battling [and overcoming] cancer, but she still shines as a mom. Sometimes she worries that her house is messy, there isn't pictures on the walls, and that she hasn't made photo books yet, but all of that really doesn't matter. She LOVES her daughter and she shows that love all of the time. I always want her to know that she is a wonderful mother. I love her so much.

Oh how I love you!

Are you the winner from either of my two giveaways? Check here!

As promised, I would put up at least one layout this weekend! I hope to get another one done today since I have to work tomorrow.

I made this super fun LO of my niece using the February Scrapbook Circle kit again. The kit is so much fun with such bright colors and the awesome new collection from Glitz. I wanted to do a starburst pattern using the fun bright colors and stitching. One evening after I poked all the holes for the starburst pattern, I took my paper, needle, and thread upstairs so that I could do the stitching while spending time with Ryan and watching TV!

That big arrow pin is one of the custom pins from the Scrapbook Circle kit. Aren't they fun?! Once again, I only used the Glitz roller doodles on the sides of the layout. I haven't gotten brave enough to use them anywhere else! Thanks for looking at my new LO and hopefully I can get another one posted this weekend! :)

Onto the layout that I completed today using the Story Time kit by Scrapbook Circle. Oh my, yet again Scrapbook Circle does NOT disappoint! It is FULL of the new Glitz collection, Color Me Happy as well as some other great goodies!

I spent some quality time with my niece this weekend and got some adorable photos of her. The outfit she was wearing goes perfectly with the colors in the Color Me Happy line! I used the new chevron Roller Doodle from Glitz along the edges of the layout, as well as under the title (but it is hard to tell). I wanted to subtly use the roller doodle to get a feel for it first! I even used the logo from the Color Me Happy collection!  :) Thanks for your comments!
