You're the Best - Scrap Your Story

I am back this week for a challenge at Scrap Your Story! I have been so busy that I wasn't able to play along last week, but back again now! :)

The challenge this week is CHILDHOOD! You can interpret that anyway you want. The easiest way for me was to use photos of children. Well, I have tons of photos of my niece Alaina!  I just love these photos of my niece with my husband. He just loves that little girl and she sure loves him!

I used a technique from Paige Evans to make border strips of paper. Looking back on it, I wish I would have made the strips  a little more crooked, but I do like how it turned out!

I used the Here and Now collection from Echo Park as well as some papers from their older lines. All of their stuff seems to match!

Be sure to play along this week with Scrap Your Story! It is an easy challenge! :)

Life is Beautiful - Scrap Your Story

This week's challenge at Scrap Your Story is to use a starburst/sunburst effect somewhere on your layout! This was easy for me as I am loving that effect on my layouts right now. I have done a layout with the stitched sunburst before, but I think it is timeless!

I got to use this adorable photo of my niece and this bright and beautiful collection from Echo Park. It all came together so nicely!

That cute little dear is from a Basic Grey die cut pack that I though when along cute with this page. I just stamped "remember" on it.

Let No one Separate - Scrap Your Story

This week's challenge at Scrap Your Story is a sketch challenge! I stayed pretty true to the sketch and kept adding layers-- my favorite! I used the Maggie Holmes collection from Crate Paper and went to work! I used both alphas and handwriting for my title.

Here are some close ups. I used my Cameo to cut that adorable banner! Be sure to play along with Scrap Your Story this week!

Every Step of the Way... - Scrap Your Story

Have you been playing along with the challenges at Scrap Your Story? They offer up great [and easy] challenges every week! This week the challenge is to scrap about a journey. I used it not so literally and did not use the actual word in my title, but I did use the word in my journaling. This was our first kiss as husband and wife and the journaling talks about how no matter what our journey in life brings us, no matter what, I will love [my husband] every step of the way!

I used a lot of the Webster's Pages collections and the AWESOME alpha stamps from the Amy Tangerine collection. I got very frustrated with this layout about halfway through, but I do like how it turned out overall.

The stitching is from the Amy Tan stitching templates and I used my Cameo to cut those cute hearts! Thanks for looking and be sure to play along this week!

Love was made for me and you - Scrap Your Story

This layout was super fun to make! I got to play with the new The Pier collection by Crate Paper. I love it! I bought many pieces of it!

The challenge at Scrap Your Story this week is to make a layout with SONG LYRICS. If you know me at all, I use song lyrics ALL THE TIME. For some reason, they just say the right things! :) My song lyrics are from the song L.O.V.E by Nat King Cole.

Funny story.. I made the layout and then a couple of days later my husband was singing the song (he never saw the layout) and I asked him what he was singing that for.. He told me, "Well, I watched Little Rascals this weekend, duh!" So funny:) Well, to me anyways! :)

I just love those picture overlay things that come with this collection and all the fun colors. I also finally got my hands on those awesome gold glitter thickers!! Thanks for checking in and be sure to play along with the challenge this week!

Scrap Your Story - Here's to 2013

Today's challenge at Scrap Your Story is to use mixed up fonts on your title! I do this ALL the time in my scrapbooking. If you check back on last week's challenge layout, I had even more different fonts in that one! This one I have 3 different fonts. One for Here's to and two different kind of Thickers for 2013. I used Echo Park's Everyday Eclectic collection for this one as well.

Lots and lots of cutting of paper strips to make this effect! The patterned paper behind the photos is actually the 3x4 journaling cards and not just plain patterned paper. So if you are looking for a way to use up those cards... here it is! :)

I love Thickers! How about you? I also love using up the NUMBERS! It doesn't happen enough.

Thanks for looking and your sweet comments. Be sure to play along with this week's challenge to use Mixed up Alphas!! Have a great weekend!

Scrap Your Story - Luckiest People Alive

Good morning! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Mine will be spent at work for 36 hours! Yay, not!

Be sure to play along with this week's challenge at Scrap Your Story! It is a fun and easy one. This week the challenge is to STAMP! I'll admit... I really didn't use stamps at all until the fun roller date stamps came out and now I use them ALL the time!

For this layout I used the super fun Everyday Eclectic collection by Echo Park. I have just had it sitting around for a LONG time and finally pulled it out to use it! I love the colors and all the fun elements it comes with. I used my [many] roller date and phrase stamps around the outside of the starburst and I also used the "true story" stamp from Studio Calico. Definitely an easy way to get stamping on the page!

I had some fun with my title work and I even found those adorable little crocheted flowers in my stash! I love using up old stuff!!

You are able to see my stamping better on the close-ups! Be sure to play along this week at Scrap Your Story! :)

Scrap Your Story - Party Rocking

As you can tell.. I am WAY behind on posting last week's challenge! Last week was super busy with work and the weekend was almost a blur. Ryan and I were supposed to spend Saturday with my mom, grandma, sister, and niece, but I ended up with (what we think) was a horrible migraine. I went to urgent care and they wanted to send me to the ER. The hospital in the city that we were in was not in my insurance network so I just ended up going home. It was one of the scariest things I ever felt. My left hand, arm, face, lips, and tongue would go numb and last for about 10 minutes. It happened three times. I am glad that is over! UGH.

Anywho.. I hope that you are all having a wonderful Sunday and more importantly, Mother's Day! Ryan and I went to church this morning and then went shopping. We found a living room set.. Loveseat, Sofa, Ottoman, and Chair. It will probably be tight in our living room.. but I am excited for it! :)

Back to the challenge at Scrap Your Story! Play along with this great sketch!! I had these fun pictures from Ryan's cousin's wedding last Sept. 1. Ryan and I were both in their wedding and they were both in our wedding! :)

I changed up the sketch a little bit and made it my own! I used a lot of the Amy Tan Sketchbook collection and the fun stars Studio Calico mask! I FINALLY got it!

Heidi Swapp "Love" letters! Loving the roller date stamps as always!

Here is the sketch! Be sure to play along this week for a great prize!

Scrap Your Story - I Carry Your Heart

The challenge this week at Scrap Your Story is all about your FAVORITE! It can be your favorite anything, we just have to know somehow that it is your favorite. Mine is all about one of my favorite people.. My Sister.

This photo comes from my wedding day after my sister gave her amazing speech. I will say it again.. Amazing. So heartfelt and true. I love my sister so much and I wanted this page to show my  true feelings. The title really says it all. No matter what.. I will carry my sister's heart..in my heart. What she goes through.. I will go through.

Once again, I used a lot of the Dear Lizzy collection. I had it in my cart at TwoPeas to buy more, but I am refraining from doing that. There will be so many other collections for me to love.. I don't need to buy much more of this one. I cut the "heart" out on my Cameo and used those cute gold Glitz letter stickers for the rest of my title.

Love is also cut on my Cameo, but see that arrow?! That is a wood veneer arrow that I embossed with gold embossing powder! Yay me! I always wanted to do that! The "You" stickers are Jillibean Soup.

All of the cute little hearts are from an all over the page Martha Stewart punch. Love that thing! I need to get the star one as well. Thanks for looking and be sure to play along with Scrap Your Story this week! :)

Scrap Your Story - Fling before the Ring

I'm back! What is the challenge this week at Scrap Your Story, you ask? JOURNALING! At least 2 sentences of journaling. Usually, that is no problem for me. When I started scrapbooking how many years back.. I was only 13. Journaling? No. Writing under a picture saying who the person was? Yep.

Rewind 5 years ago. Journaling? Still no. I wouldn't even think to put my thoughts and feelings down on my layouts. I didn't think it was needed. Today. YES YES YES. I even wish that I would journal on my pages more than I do now. I usually have about 2 sentences or so and get the "jist" written down, but sometimes I feel like I am not even telling enough. Yes, there are the pictures to help tell the story, but I want to know that someday I will have the whole story. Am I the only one who feels like this?

I also tend to say a lot of my "true feelings" in my journaling that I may not say to someone's face... or at least not often enough. I really do want those people to know how I feel. :)

On to my layout... There is nothing special about this layout as it is just documenting a bachelorette party. I do have to say though.... This layout is the first time in a LONG time that I actually ripped up something and started over! The white background paper is totally different than it started. I had misted on it as well and it just didn't "go," so I started over with a new piece.

Surprisingly, I have been having a hard time working with Amy Tan's Yes, Please line. Not the embellishments.. but the papers. I feel like there are too many weird pinks, oranges, and blue/greens that just don't always fit together right. I have never felt that way about any of her lines! It is probably just me.

I used the Amy Tan stitching templates again, which I love! Thanks for looking and be sure to play along with the challenge this week at Scrap Your Story! :)

Scrap Your Story - Better than This

Another challenge at Scrap Your Story. Have you been playing along? The challenge this week is to STITCH somewhere on your layout. Any kind of stitching! This was easy for me because I have been stitching on my layouts like a crazy woman lately! :)

Now..I am sure you all are thinking.. "hey, she did one like that already!" Yes, I already did a large photo layout and I framed it with stitching... BUT I think it is the best way to showcase these big photos! I didn't think there was much else for me to add besides the stitching, title, and pennants and I am okay with that!

I love this photo. I love, love, love it! My wedding party was so awesome. I love them all so much. This is such a fun photo and shows everyone's personalities!

Some fun Heidi Swapp mistable stars to top it off! :) Be sure to play along this week at Scrap Your Story! :)

Scrap Your Story - Home Run Love

I'm back with another challenge at Scrap Your Story! This week's challenge is a sketch challenge .. and a great sketch!  I stuck fairly close to the sketch, but instead of circles I used hearts!

These are photos from our wedding day. We stopped at the ball park and took a few photos! It is hard to see, but our wedding party is in the stands cheering us on in both of the photos! :)

I have been doing lots of hand stitching again lately, which I love! I also used Glitz Madly in Love on this page.

And here is the sketch! Be sure to play along at Scrap Your Story for a great giveaway!

Scrap Your Story - Hippity Hop!

Have you been playing along with the challenges at Scrap Your Story? This week's challenge is an EASY one! We challenge you to make a layout about anything SPRING! Spring colors, spring pictures, spring events, anything spring!

I decided to work on this challenge right after Easter, so I had a good amount of photos to work with! I decided to use this ADORABLE picture of my niece with all of her Easter goodies (most of which mom and dad will partake in). We let her dig through her big Easter basket and she found that huge chocolate bunny that she has her mouth on. I tried pulling it away from her.. well, she pulled harder! She held onto it so hard that when I would pull it from her... I would practically pull her bottom off the ground because she was pulling it so hard too! So cute.

First off, this layout is based on a wonderful sketch by my friend Missy Whidden. She has been offering up quite a few sketches lately and I have been loving using them! I stayed close to her sketch, as well as her layout inspiration. I used the March Scrapbook Circle kit and added a few of my own bits and pieces. How cute is that little Easter bunny?!

I love all the new Thickers that they are coming out with. I wish I could have them all! To do the stitching I used a Bazill stitching template that I bought probably 3 years ago. I am proud of myself for using an old supply!

This LO uses lots of Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm goodness as well as some Alison Kreft! TFL! Be sure to play along this week!

Scrap Your Story - Grateful

Today brings yet another new challenge at Scrap Your Story! This week's challenge is to use CORK!! I was pretty baffled by this challenge until I found a lovely piece of paper by Crate Paper that looks like cork! I was so excited because I really had NOTHING else to use for this challenge!

I was too much of a wimp and totally could not get myself to use the cork paper for the entire background. Nope. Not Me. I put a lovely piece of Dear Lizzy paper over it and stitched the edges (as well as the adorable clouds). I thought that the cork paper worked well with my photos from the winery. There was a lot of browns in the photo that matched well.

I used some bits and pieces from the current Scrapbook Circle kit that is full of Dear Lizzy goodness. I have made a lot of layouts with that collection, but still have SO much left from it!

A close up of one of my clusters. Dear Lizzy stickers as well as a Studio Calico arrow sticker.

And my corner that I stitched the clouds on and added my own little phrase sticker to go with the rest. And as always.. enamel dots! They fit everywhere! :) There is also a challenge right now going on over at Paper issues to use CLOUDS on your project! :)

Be sure to link up your cork layouts to Scrap Your Story!! I can't wait to see what you have to show! I am sure many will be more creative than me!

Scrap Your Story - This is Forever

Its Friday! Another reveal day at Scrap Your Story! The challenge this week is to use any sort of embossing on your layout! It can be dry or heat embossed.. just use embossing. To be honest.. it scared me! I have a Big Shot with some embossing folders and I have ink, a heat gun, and one little thing of embossing powder. Safe to say that I usually only use the embossing folders if I make cards (which isn't much) and I never use the embossing powder!

I stepped out of my comfort zone and decided to try out the embossing powder on a scratch piece of paper. It worked well! I have seen a lot of heat embossing in the scrapbook world lately and I would like to get more into it. I think I am going to order some of the American Crafts Zing embossing powders so that I have more fun colors to choose from! :)

The only powder I had was a silver which I thought would go well with this wedding photo of mine. I used February's Studio Calico kit to create this layout and I used an older studio calico heart arrow stamp to create the embossed arrows!

Here is a close up of the embossed arrows, as well as my layers and clusters.

I think that it turned out well! Be sure to play along with the challenge this week!
